“The most rewarding part of creating a piece of jewelry is feeling the emotion that the piece captures. It really goes beyond just looking good. My customers tell me my pieces make them feel good. To me, that’s the highest compliment you can give a jewelry designer.”
-Lori Vanderhurst
About the Art
Beautiful. Timeless. Unique.
I often hear those words from people who buy my jewelry, and I think they fit.
Of course, the pieces are beautiful – every design, from concept to fruition, is focused on the beauty of the piece.
Timeless comes to mind because the jewelry looks good anywhere, anytime.
Your piece is also going to be unique. The jewelry you see here is one of a kind. Each piece is my own design, and hand-made by me. Once an item is sold there will not be another one exactly like it. Ever.
So when you look at the pieces, either here on the website or at a gallery near you, try and choose one that you feel is really “you” – because it really will be yours and yours alone.
About the Artist
Like many classic business ventures, for me, making jewelry for a living almost came about by accident. Sure, I made some jewelry in high school many years ago, but I never really pursued it any further than a hobby. It wasn’t until many years later, when my career was in full bloom, that making jewelry made a big comeback into my life.
I’ve always loved art – I’ve dabbled in oil painting, and amongst my biggest art influencers is Mark Rothko. So after many years in the business world, I found myself in a “number-crunching” job, which was great for paying the bills, but not so great for satisfying my creative side. Thus, almost out of creative need, I started making jewelry again. And you know what happened?
It turned out I was good at it. Very good.
I started making jewelry first for myself, and then for my friends. More and more people commented on and wanted my jewelry, and before I knew it, I was in business. In fact, I think that’s one of the aspects that I’m most proud of – I got to this point on the strength of my work.
My designs are for sale through my monthly newsletter (subscribe click here), and I also wholesale multiple pieces to galleries and stores interested in reselling them. If you have a design in mind that you don’t see here, or you own a store and want to carry my line, please do not hesitate to contact me.
